How to read your prescription before you order medicines online

Updated 7 October 2026 · 1 min read

A prescription names a brand, its strength and form, how often to take it and for how long. Checking those against the pack before you order means you get exactly what your doctor wrote. Davadekho sends the exact brand, never a substitute.

The five things to check

  1. Brand — the name your doctor wrote, for example Thyronorm.
  2. Strength — mg or mcg. A 25mcg and a 50mcg tablet are different prescriptions.
  3. Form — tablet, capsule, syrup, injection. "SR", "XR" or "CR" means a slow-release tablet, which is a different product.
  4. Dose — how many, how often: "1-0-1" means morning and night.
  5. Duration — how many days or months. Multiply to know how many tablets to order.

If you cannot read the handwriting

Do not guess. Ask the clinic, or send the prescription on WhatsApp after ordering: a registered pharmacist checks every prescription before the order is released, and will call you if something does not match.

Questions

What does 1-0-1 mean on a prescription?

One dose in the morning, none in the afternoon, one at night. Ask your doctor if a schedule is unclear.

Will Davadekho send a different brand?

No. We send the exact brand your doctor wrote, or tell you we do not have it.

Do I have to send the prescription?

For a prescription medicine, yes. A registered pharmacist checks it before the order is released.
